What we fixed after Hungary, and what Norris got right
· Hungarian Grand Prix
First, thank you. Several of you wrote in during and after the race, and almost everything below came from something one of you spotted.
And sorry about the notifications after the race. If your phone buzzed once it was all over, that was us reprocessing the race data. It won't happen again.
Hungary was our first race with notifications back on. The app tracked 113 moments across 70 laps, and only the big ones are meant to buzz your phone. Most of it worked. Here's what didn't.
FIXED
Tyre alerts had never buzzed your phone. We forgot to add them to the list of alerts allowed to send notifications, so they reached the app and stopped there.
A tyre card contradicted itself. Its verdict on whether tyres would last only looked at their age, never the wear rate printed right above it. So tyres falling apart could still get a green tick.
We told you Hamilton's penalty was safe. It wasn't. His lead over Leclerc was 4.97 seconds and he needed 5. We rounded that to safe instead of treating it as the coin flip it was. He lost the place.
